    People tend to learn more from their mistakes though when there's a consequence to making those mistakes. If you make a mistake and there's not negative reinforcement involved, the point isn't driven home very well.

    There's a difference between making honest mistakes, and abusing the use of a SPOT system, over and over and over. When there is no consequence, you don't tend to equate it as a true "mistake", and instead you learn to take advantage of it.
