Spent a lovely Sunday morning checking out the museum as well as some mines in the Knightville area. The museum is well worth the visit alone, the local historic society has done a phenomenal job gathering local mining collectibles and our tour guide was great too, having working in some of the mines in his younger days.
Following our museum appointment we traveled to Knightville, just east of Eureka. We checked out the school house and then conintued to some of the major mines in the area, the Yankee, the Humbug, Cheif, etc. We found 5 horizontal openings, with many more likely to be found. We are planning on a repeat trip to spend some more time investigating the actual mines, I'll make sure to let you guys know when that is!
