A retired coal mine perhaps? Do you know which mine? Where have you seen it references as a "fallout shelter"? I've been through that area a bit and haven't noticed such a mine but I'm not surprised as I wasn't looking for it

It is most likely a coal mine but Emery County has some old hard rock mines also. It might be gone now. It has been 25 years science I have been east past the dam. But it was on the north side of the creek and below highway 29.

I have found a couple of ore car bodies inside, at the bottom of vertical shafts, and missing their wheels. That's it though.

May is tight for me; I might be able to squeeze a day or two in, but not likely at this point...still dealing with family issues now covering 2 states.

How have you been? Hope things are slowing down for you..... No? Me either! I keep thinking that things will slow down in a couple of months. I've been thinking that for a couple of years. Click image for larger version

The random question is to keep the spammers from using their scripts on the forum. I keep forgetting to enter the answer before hitting the "submit" button. I'm thinking it's Alzheimer's. That or CRS.

CRS - those are the initials for my job title: Control Room Specialist...

...However, the OTHER meaning is what usually applies for my job. LOL
I'd say I'm fat and out of shape, but, "round" is a shape...

Thanks, I figured out the meaning for the random question as soon as I hit "Submit Reply," but thought I'd leave it in case anybody else had a brain fart like I did.

I was hoping to be all done with my Grandfather's property by now, but it looks like I'll be working on it through August before I'll be finished with it. Silly me, thinking that I can sort through & liquidate 3 acres of crap that took 68 years to accumulate, in just a few months. UGH.

Thanks for the invite, unfortunatley, I'll be in Ely that weekend with my family. I'm Jonesing for some mine exploring!! I want to try out my new rappeling gear....

It seems like May and October are my crazy months. The weather has finally warmed up or cooled off, and everyone plans their events for these months...

Hope to meet you in the fall then!
