    Bad Air Detection

Hi all....I was just wondering if anyone had some advice on bad air detection. I know they sell air quality meters, and that would be the best way to ensure that the air is good inside a mine, but they are also a little expensive. I was wondering if a simple carbon monoxide detector would be sufficient for most hard rock mines. From what I have gathered, CO and CO2 are the biggest threat in hard rock mines?? My other question is if you find a pocket of carbon dioxide in a mine, will there most likely be CO mixed in that a detector would pick up?
