    camp armor Helmets

its time for me and the lady to start getting geared up. ive had a few bumps on the head already and we are obviously in this hobby to stay, so its time to look at helmets.

the camp armor, as recommended on these forums, seems like a great choice at any price and happens to be priced well. the thing about it is the ladies, mens and juniors really arnt drastically different from the specs.

    Camp Armor Mens
    Sizing: 54-63 cm, 21.5-24.5 in
    Weight: 340 g, 11.99 oz

Camp Armor Ladies and Junior (they are the same size) ***************they are not the same...read last post*************
    Sizing: 53-61 cm, 21-24 in
    Weight: 310 g, 10.94 oz

my head is 22.5 and hers is 22.

both helmets are the twist adjust type like a construction helmet so in theory they should fit great through out there adjustment range. the shells are a shade smaller on the juniors and ladies model but thats about it.

ideally id try them on in the store, but this will be part of the Christmas presents shes getting and im overseas.

im familiar with a twist to fit mechanism so im assuming the smaller helmets will work well for us as we fit right into the middle of there size range, but i figured id post up for opinions from others who've actually had caving helmets.

I have the Men's version and Crystal wears the Women's, really the only difference as you stated is the size. It sounds like you will fit the junior just fine and if so you win with the lighter weight, believe me the weight adds up after several hours of use. Your wife will fit the junior for sure. Just to be on the safe side I would recommend finding one to try on before purchasing one for yourself.

I wouldn't waste your money on cheap hardware store headlamps. If you want some bright, reliable, and very well priced lights I would suggest www.dealextreme.com

Only downside is shipping can be slow, but hey if you have time its worth it. The lights on here are some of the brightest available at any price and they are cheap to boot!

im a huge fan of Dx and Kaidomain. ive been watching them for headlamps for a long time. i posted one in your headlamp post that im really considering. its crazy to think you can buy a 35 dollar mag light(love mine and still use it, but not in the mines), or go to DX and get a pocket sized, three times brighter flashlight/battery/charger for less money

Glad you are on top of things! When I hear that someone is looking for a cheapo head lamp I always assume they mean the hardware store. I saw the other post, looks like some good options for you.

the junior helmets arrived before christmas....they have really small chin straps and kimi thought they were smaller then the ladies one by a little bit.

we ended up going to REI and the mens fit my 22.5 inch head perfect and the ladies fit kimis 22 inch head perfect. damn nice helmets and very comfortable in the mines

Right after Christmas I scraped my pennies together and headed off to REI to buy the Black Diamond Half Dome helmet I had settled on. When I tried it on it sat quite a bit higher than I liked. It made me look a little like Stan Laurel of Laurel & Hardy fame. (Ok, imagine him with long hair...)

With all the talk about the Camp Armor on the forum, I decided to try one on. Sure enough it was a bit lower profile and I didn't look quite a goofy with it on. (That's just my opinion) So now I'm the proud owner of a Camp Armor helmet. I've ordered a Princeton Tec Apex Pro and am waiting for delivery later this week.

Now I'm looking at a couple of additional lights to complete the set. More than anything it's a matter of scraping together the bucks for a couple of nice LED lights...
