    Kicking around Nevada

Today I'm packing up for a teardrop gathering up in Austin Nevada. I'm taking off a couple of days early so I can stop and do some photography in Goldfield, Tonopah, Belmont, and Manhattan. I've been through Goldfield and Tonopah quite a few times but never had time to stop and "explore". This time I'll have some time to look around. I'm not sure I'll be able to get into any mines in the area since there are still a lot of folks in the area and I don't think they want folks wandering around. I'll probably get a better feel tomorrow. I loaded the mine/claim database into Google earth and was stunned by the number of mines right in Goldfield. The density of mines is just stunning. It must be Swiss cheese around there.

I'm planning on visiting the mining museum in Tonopah to see what it has to offer. It should be quite interesting. Belmont is quite interesting since it still has the county courthouse. It's a state park so it is in better condition than some of the other ghost towns.

    Should be a fun trip!
