    MU Site Problems? Just me?

Pages here on MU have been taking a long time to load since the whole .com/.net deal. Sometimes they load 1/2 way and then fail to load further, to the point I get a "Page Load Error". Doesn't seem to be happening on any other sites from my computer?

Am I the only one experiencing this?

I haven't noticed any problems with my computer. It could just be your computer.

Hmmm, must be. Its been doing it for several days and on both my desktop and laptop (both on the same server) so it must be an issue with my server and MU's server?

Still having the issues, its driving me crazy too. It will work great for 15-20 minutes and then it will start freezing up. Just MU too?? I've got a dozen other forums running right now and they don't have a problem, some of which are very photo heavy. Any suggestions for something I can try on my end?

Sounds like a problem with "cache" browser settings and/or your ISP using a proxy server or its own caching scheme. Try deleting/flushing any caches, and zeroing out your browser's history sometimes speeds things up. Which browser RU using? I've abandoned MS IE some time ago, and use Opera, Firefox mainly...

Firefox, through a Linksys router and Comcast. I've cleared the cache and history, it will still happen. Whats odd is its hit and miss. I'll open 3 MU threads in new tabs, 2 of the 3 will half load while the other loads 100% and fast. I'll keep toying with it.

As of this minute I have 22 windows, and over 100 tabs open At least half of those are forums, though mostly vBulletin setups. This is the only PHPBB I'm on, so it might be an issue related to my ISP and that?

Well Kurt, I'm not sure what is going on with it. Everything is also loading up well for me. PHPBB and vBullitin are both based on PHP 5 and mySQL 5. I am running a custom php init file that helps speed things along, but I can't see why that would cause problems on your end.

If I could have you do the following to help troubleshoot the issue:

                    1. Open the command prompt -> start -> run -> cmd:
Type: tracert.exe mojaveunderground.com and wait for it to finish
Click on the window icon in the top left corner of the window and go to Edit -> Select All
Hit Enter, and paste the content of the tracert in an email to me at mojaveunderground@gmail.com

                    2. In the same command prompt window, type:
                    ipconfig.exe /release
                    ipconfig.exe /flushdns
                    ipconfig.exe /renew
The restart the system when convenient.

That should get you started. There may be some caching still remaining from the whole .net .com fiasco. Let me know how that works, look forward to the tracert.

Thanks I got the tracert. Its definetely taking longer to trace than it should. Step 10's 288ms hop is way to high, looks like a hold up in the routing from integra, who Comcast uses to route mid routing information. Each hop should take anywhere from 15-30ms, and nothing more. Each website routes differently, and it seems this particular route has some pot holes in it.

You'll also notice that step 2 timed out. Step 2 is usually the packet traveling from your router into a modem, where the modem then does some very basic routing, sending it off to the correct comcast server.

Try my other site I"ve been tinkering around with, http://mojavextreme.net/

Its on the same account. If that goes slow for you, I"m thinking something (likely your ISP) just has some bad routing in that area. I'll look into more on this side though.
