I was looking at my calendar and discovered that I do not have classes from the fifteenth of August till the end of the month and was thinking it would be a good idea if we could set up a trip for somewhere in that time period.

Nice! We need to make another trip back up to Ophir. There are a few other mines there we have not explored yet that need some exploring. We'll plan something here soon and let you know. -
I agree, lets plan an Ophir/Jacob city trip in August.-Stuart Burgess

I like the August idea. I thinking the second week works best for me. Since school starts the 18th. Ophir and Jacob city sound good to me!-Jake Burgess

For this trip what kind of equipment will I be needing? All I have now is walking shoes, 2 Flashlights (1 big 1 small), backpack, and few other camping related things. I read on the trip rules post and was wondering if we are going into any mines/caves and if I will need a helmet. (if so how much do they cost or could I just borrow one)
Thanks!Comment

You don't need to much. The items listed in the Mine Safety article are important. A helmet is highly recommended. They are a little bit pricy, around $50-$80 for a good one. I once saw a modded bike helmet that was kinda cool. Much cheaper, but caving/climbing helmets are low profile and easy to use.
Are any of your flashlights a headlamp? Sounds like you already have most of the gear needed.Comment
