Mojave Underground on KUER

Last month Jeremiah, Crystal, Neil, and I took Kuer's Jennifer Napier-Pearce into the Ophir Hill to investigate the hobby of abandoned mine exploration. A couple weeks later she attended a portion of the first annual NHMI Western Conference, here is the resulting story. It also features Glen Carpenter of the BLM and fellow mine explorer/artist Jerry Gardener.

Be smart in your explorations - test for lack of oxygen as you enter new parts of the mine, watch for indications of shafts that are covered by rubble, and be aware for open expanses where rock has fallen from the back of the mine.
