Topaz Mountain / Eureka/ Little Sahara

This event has concluded: Read the event followup here

July 15th-16th: Were finally making a trip out to topaz mountain. While there, we'll be scavenging for topaz, red beryl, and any other perty gems. We will be stopping at Eureka to explore a few of the mines while we still have access to them. Afterwards, we will stop at Little Sahara for some camping. Come morning, we'll head out to Topaz to spend the remainder of the day searching for whatever is out there. We've got some rock hounding gear we plan on taking advantage of. We plan on leaving from the S. Orem Walmart near McDonalds at 3:00pm. Look ufor an old black nissan truck and an old grey toyota truck.

Please RSVP via Private Message to Mike or Stuart, or via our Meetup Group

Ah ya school can get in the way. Too bad. Its going to be a fun one. Perhaps one day of school is worth missing! I dare say it is!

Where is Topaz Mountain? Do you know for sure that there are neat rocks there. If there are neat things to see, I would thnk about going. What equipment would we need to bring on this trip.

Yes, there are neat rocks there. Hence the name, Topaz... If you can make it, you'll need to bring lots of water. Its going to be hot, dry, and dusty out there. Some basic tools are a good sturdy hammer and a chisel.

In the fall it wouldn't be such a big deal but because its summer term they basically cram 1 normal semester into about 2.5 months...but I'd totaly do it this fall

If its a good trip and we enjoy it, there is a good chance that we may go back.
