    Honerine Mine Area- June 17-18th

We are making a trip out to the Honering Mine and some of the other mines in the area, looking to get into the infamous Galena King Mine.

    THIS EVENT HAS CONCLUDED

Although we did not end up visiting the Honerine Area, An Overview of this trip can be found at

last time we were up there, the majority of the area is closed, there land itself has been closed up by the blm due to a fire a few years ago, they claim there is toxic dust. We did find a lot of other mines a little to the south. But as to the honorine itself, it was pretty much wiped out at last look. the roads are the most fun out there, be aware of where you are going because some of them wind up and around the canyons and then dead end abruptly, with no turn around area, and you are stuck backing down these nasty little trails. Good luck, if we are able, we will try to join you. I'll keep and eye out for times and meeting spot.

Haha Toxic Dust! Sounds like a band name. Way cool. So your saying that none of the area allows for exploring? Who cares of toxic dust anyways. It probably doesn't exist, and if it does, were young, and nothing can hurt us. Definitely sounds like some good offroading there. I think the truck still has what it takes!

Still interested in the Honerine Mine, closed or not. I'd like find a way into it; sounds like there is some good exploring inside. Corey do you know anything about either the Bauer Tunnel or Galena King mines? How are these other mines?

Ok, after a little research I found the state history website again. Though none of the mine maps related to the Honerine are digitized, there is a pretty extensive collection for a number of levels, crosscuts, and stopes listed within the Utah History Research Center database.

There is a searchable database for map listings on the website, with the copies of the maps avaliable for viewing at the center. I haven't ever been to the research center personally but I will definately be visiting to pour over these records.

        Happy hunting!
