I'm from Poland and I'm a mine explorer too. Good to see you have so many abandoned mines in your area.

I hope to get some better understanding of mine exploration opportunities in US. I hope we could also share some expiriences and tech details - maybe we could learn something from each other

Yes, that's really amazing place. This chamber is so big because that's part of modern gold mine (closed in late 1990's). In a fact there are several of such a chambers in this mine. We've been rappelling to the bottom of one of them (it was 250+ feet rappell) - you can see friend of mine during this action (look at the top of this pic, he's hanging there):
