    Hi ! from Cornwall

Hi , I found this site whilst looking at Mine explorer websites.
I come from the far southwest of england(cornwall) We have been mining tin and copper since Roman times so our whole county is riddled with disused workings.
I have been looking at old mines for about 15 years now and most of my trips involve rappeling the shafts to gain access, recently have been experimenting in diving some of the shallower flooded winzes.
I have visited Jerome in AZ and was amazed how much is still left of your mining history but i could see no evidence of underground explorers so it was great to find your splendid website and the fantastic gallery you guys have !
Im hoping to get back over to the Utah area in the summer so any tips for mine visits would be cool.

    cheers Pat

    Hi Pat!

Welcome! I find that fascinating that you dive into the old mines... Being a diver myself and having dove many many underwater caves I've often thought about doing that over here if I am presented with the opportunity. I can imagine there must still be lots of historical stuff left in your area to explore and I'd sure love to see some pictures if you get time to post some. Attached is a photo I took of a buddy of mine in an underground spring a number of years ago.

    TTYL,
    Mark

I can't imagine how cool it would be to explore workings that are as old as Roman times. Arizona does have some cool mines as well. AZ does have a lot of amazing history. About 4 years ago, I was stationed with the U.S. Army at Fort Huachuca, about 20 minutes away from the old famous mining ghost town of Tombstone. Saw some pretty cool stuff there underground. Welcome!

          Welcome to the forum!

Like much of the west, Arizona has a rich mining history. I lived in Arizona until I was 20 years old. My dad was a hunter and I followed him all over southern Arizona. Lot's of neat mining sites down that way. I went to school in northern Arizona so I got to Jerome a number of times. It's a really neat little town.

Anyway, glad that you joined in! I certainly look forward to seeing some of your photos and tales of the mines in England.

Thanks for the welcome guys, i will have a go at posting some pics.
I have some videos on u tube under the name of "monkeybaboon" some of which are mine related ,others work.I think the best one is "cornish u bends".
If you do watch them they do involve some "english humour" and heavy rock to drown out the bad langauge!

Can someone tell me how I would go about uploading a few of my pics?

I am not great with the techno talk so be gentle with me

                cheers.

PS. have you guys heard of a "pasty",a meat and veg pastry.

It was traditional miners meal to be eaten underground.

Yes, pastys are devine. Do you have a recipe for one to share?

PM "mike" for instructions on how to upload your pix.

Our pasty recipe is pretty basic, potatoe, swede and a rich short crust pastry.

The pastry is crimped to give a raised ridge which could be held and thrown away when eating with dirty hands underground.
its still a very popular lunch time meal in cornwall.
