I just joined this group after reading up on the Internet today about the town of Ophir Utah. I found some of your group's "youtube" videos of you guys exploring mines in the same area. It's nice to meet people with the same interests. I have explored all over this area, and was hoping to go back soon and do some more exploring. I have been exploring abandoned mines for some time all around the Wasatch Front. I am interested in their history, etc.
Additionally, I enjoy wheeling in my 4X4, shooting my guns in the desert, seeing the best sunsets, and all that the outdoors have to offer.

To answer your question, I don't know the names of all of the mines, but I do have camcorder video to share with you guys of several mines up there. My camcorder has the little 8MM tapes, but I can convert them to DVD.

I have been through the buckhorn mine on the Ophir Side. I have that on video as well. I have been through several mines that I believe are in the vicinity of the buckhorn that reached from the Jacob City side where I came up and over the canyon (on tape). I have been through a more modern looking mine on the east canyon of ophir that is right off of an old mining road. The door to the mine was pried open just enough to slip through. Higher up on the east side of ophir in that same little canyon, I have been through several older mines. I have never been through the ophir mine or the hidden treasure- The hidden treasure is the mine that I have always wanted to see- but could never get inside because of the gates. I have looked for other entrances to this mine all over the place.

I drove my Jeep up the old mining road from Ophir into Jacob City (And nearly lost my vehicle in a portion of the road near that top that has partially eroded away).

I have explored several mines somewhat near the old cabin above Jacob City. I found an old newspaper from 1934 but it desintegrated when we picked it up (on video as well).- This mine was near the top of the mountain way above Jacob City. I was actually surprised to find that this mine entrance was so near the top of this mountain.

Anyway, sorry that I do not know the names. It will be cool to hang with you guys and learn more about the mines that I have explored. I'm honestly an amateur compared to you guys.
