    Guess I should say hi

I found the Underground via a link from another site and saw the trip on the 17th just down the road from me so I joined up to go ...

anyhow a little background.. in my youth I used to go spelunking all of the time along with backpacking and rock climbing.. then came marriage.. and that stopped in the last couple of years I have visited a few mines east of Stockton just for fun and spend most of my time restoring my 61 scout 80 and fixing my Jeep after I break something rock crawling. Other than that I do a little gun smithing(mostly restoration work of older weapons).

ok that is enough for now

Even though I am new as well, I thought I would say hi also especially since we both are big into rock crawling.

        Welcome to Mojave Underground!

The mines east of Stockton are some of the oldest and most historic in the state. I have spent a fair amount of time wandering around inside the Honerine, its a good area to get started in.

Surprisingly enough, Marriage did not end my adventurous lifestyle. I actually managed to make my wife fall madly in love with both me, and mine exploration, of course her father is a big time outdoor/mining enthusiast and a hardcore Alaskan so converting her was pretty much already done for me. I think some of the single men on the site, (Mike, Miah, Robert, etc), should consider an extended trip up to Alaska to do a little "fishing" and "hunting" of their own. As for Scott and the others who seem to be hindered in their adventurous exploits by their significant others, I am considering developing a ten point plan to getting more wives underground with us. I have no idea where to start, but I think it can be done.

I have to say it isn't all my wifes fault and that she fully supports the Jeep thing and my restoring of vehicles (I have to build her a Sleeper MG with a V6 when I am done with the scout).. she just grew up with camping that meant going to a KOA with church... errg..

my wife will never go into a cave or mine as she is afeeared of enclosed spaces. hopefully when my daughters get a bit older I can start taking them on some more adventures in the middle of nowhere

Welcome! I moved out to Utah from the Chicago burbs about 12 years ago... we didn't have any mines to explore back there... just a few really large quarrys with occasional fossil finds. I can tell you for sure that Illinois is soooo boreing...! Both my myself and my wife love mine exploring and related things... we once snowshoed up to the pit at Gold Hill on New Years Eve, I think that was in 06. At dusk when we were heading back down from exploring you could hear the Coyotes howling in the distance... that was so cool to hear. I took alot of pics up there then but I wish I'd had a recorder with to capture those howls!! I haven't been out with these guys yet... wife just had her left knee replaced. I have been out with Corey's group quite a few times in the past and with a few prople whom are here in these threads. I really look forword to outings in the very near future with the Mojave groups!!
