    hi

    Hello from Dugway.

My name is Matt, and I'm a transplant from MN. I've been around mining all my life, but it's all been open pit mines, so not so much for exploring. This site looks like pretty cool. I usually head up into the mountains on the weekends and go exploring around Dugway. So far I've found some mines and abandoned buildings which has just grown my interest. I'm really looking forward to heading up around Ophir someday. Anyway, thought I'd say hi.

        Thanks,

No, Haven't been down that way yet, but I see the turn off whenever I head down past Simpson Springs.

Hi Matt and welcom to MU, If you live out at Dugway there is a small mine just south of the horse correls, it is just past the fence line border in the side of a small hill. The last time I have been there was about 10 years ago and there was just a small entrance to it. You should check it out but make sure not cats are calling it home first. Shawn

So can someone help me out a little. What are some good sources for mine info? Are there any maps that list old mines, books, websites, etc? I'm having a hard time finding the history on some of the mines I've come across.

The wiki has a lot of good information, but needs a lot of work. We are soon adding much more content to it! Feel free to add your own locations and history as you see fit.

The following file has information on almost every single mine in the western US. There are some missing here and there, but it is a really good database. The excel files have information concerning the dates of the mines, locations, commodities, property ownership, etc., and the KMZ/L files can be opened into Google Earth to plot each mine accordingly.
