Hey All,
My name is Dylan I am a college student in the Lower Mojave / High Desert Area of Southern California. I am pursuing degrees in Mining Engineering, Geology and Archaeology, ( I LOVE DIGGING!!!) and I am working towards attending Colorado School of Mines within a few years. I am avid hiker, explorer, miner, prospector, mine explorer and just around adventurer..anything involving getting nature on my boots is something I love.
I have been involved in various gold mining and prospecting operations and ventures since I was about 10 years old. I started out rock hounding in the 3rd Grade ( instead of playing on the playground equipment I would be searching the yard for specimens kinda thing).
I recently discovered that my Great-Grandfather was a mucker at the United Verde Extension Mine in the Jerome/ Haynes area of Arizona during the early 1920s. My maternal line ancestrally hails from the South West mostly Arizona but as far as Texas. So mining is definitely in my blood, making matters worse.
I am a complete history fanatic my era of concentration is the early 1900s through to WWII. I have a complete fascination with the culture of that time as well as the patriotism that came about from that era. I usually dress in that style most every day, never leaving the house without a hat etc etc...no I don't wear suits to go mining in. I love the richness of the mining heritage of that time as well...anyone ever read the book Bacon and Beans from a Gold Pan by Coffey? Its a great book about sniping the Agua Fria Creek during the Depression. I am also a preservationist ( ideologically and politically) I believe that our historic sites should be preserved and kept open for all; granted for the right reasons, such as keeping the history alive and for future research- Research...is one of my loves sometimes greater than the find! I hope to meet some of you out there and I hope you all have fun and keep your feet steady!!
