    VOB to AVI files

i know this doesnt have a lot to do with photography, but mike and stu you two (ha that rhymed) know your computer stuff pretty well. I found a freeware DVD ripping software to rip the files into VOB, but i need to convert that into AVI so that i can go in and edit them in Adobe Premiere, since it does not use VOB files. If you guys know of any freeware software that could do that i would be most appreciative. I am really lacking in money right now and would like to find something that is free that i can use. If you have any info let me know. Thanks again!

I think that program will do that also. It seems to have the capability.

A VOB file (Video Object) is a container format contained in DVD-Video media. It contains the actual Video, Audio, Subtitle (VobSubs) and Menu contents in stream form.

VOB files are encoded very much like standard MPEG-2 files. If the extension is changed from .vob to .mpg or .mpeg, the file is still readable and continues to hold all information, although most MPEG-2-capable players don't support subtitle tracks.

I've always used the ImTOO DVD Ripper @ imtoo.com. Seems to work very well also. If you care about quality and file size, I recommend converting to DivX instead. Much better and you can use DivX Converter for free to do it.

                        Thats great.

Thats great. Im looking for some good software that I can use to convert FLV files to AVI. I have found a few, but they are all really buggy and obnoxious.

Yeah i think that the thing i hate the most is the watermark that some of them put on your video files. GAHH! so annoying! im really glad that this software doesnt. You should try out the DVDClone Mobile and see if it has what you are looking for. I havent had a chance to play a lot with it yet, but hey give it a try.

                            Yea bro.

I also hate the watermark. It makes me really really mad. I would rather just have a time trial, or limited functionality than a watermark. They really suck. I think I might give that program a try. Who knows it might just do the trick.

Handbreak is where its at. Well if you are just interested in ripping a DVD to view on the computer. Its open source so its free and it works pretty well.

HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded video transcoder.

Theres the website with a little bit more information about it.
