Portable mine winch over in the UK

I know that MU has their mighty winch, so when I saw this photo it caught my interest. These portable winches must be the apex in mine exploring gear. Joanne

They have a tripod built over the shaft of a lead mine. I can't tell if the tripod is permanent or if they break it down and transport it from location to location.

These photos come from a mine exploring website based in England. http://www.mine-explorer.co.uk

They have a tripod set up over the shaft of a lead mine. Further pictures in the series show them down in the mine placing bolts in the rock walls in order to place a traverse line so they can safely get past a winze in the drift floor.

I am hoping to fly to England this spring or summer to do some mine exploring with some of the folks I have met on that forum.

It appears to have the same functionality as ours, but in a much smaller package. It appears the only downside would be that it doesn't have a built in A-frame setup.. It would be fun to take a ride on this one and compare it.

Oh those wacky Brits! Are they towing that thing with a 1994 Twingo hatchback? And I love the super secure seat he is sitting in. No harness? Am I missing something? Perhaps the shaft is only 12' deep. I like the tripod idea, but for the shafts we seem to have to deal with it would have to be 60' tall and 30' wide at the base!
