    Learning about single rope technique

    Hi all,

I've posted this before but since we now have a section dedicated to rope work I thought I would post it again so everyone can find it.

It goes without saying that book learning is no substitute for hands-on training, but I believe that a good basic understanding makes the hands-on training much more effective. This resource is the best "getting started" material that I have found on the web!

You can click on any one of those sections and save them as a .pdf file, then you can just open the pdf from your own computer and print them at home.

Interesting. Someday I'd love to get better at this.

I like the book "On Rope" by: Bruce Smith & Allen Padgett, that Joanne recommended to me.

Yeah, my copy is sitting on the floor right next to my bed. I was reading it just a couple of nights ago. I'm also reading Blind Descent (about exploring super caves).

As opposed to not-so-super caves? =P

I had borrowed a great book on high angle rescue equipment and techniques... I need to find out what the title was and get my own copy.

I haven't practiced high angle rescue since I was in S&R during my college years... One book I like on this topic is "Life on a Line". It's a cave/mine rescue book. Interesting reading.

Found the titles. Good info here:

Technical Rescue Riggers Guide - by Rick Lipke

Rope Rescue Manual Field Guide - CMC rescue Inc.

High Angle Rescue Techniques - Tom Vines & Steve Hudson

Which, I suppose, isn't quite the same topic as SRT, but hey.
