A few of us recently found a mine that a close friend told us about that was promised to be "awesome" and indeed it was. The pics can be found here. Unfortunately we are not at liberty to make this location public for fear that this treasure will be reclaimed by the state. Most of the equipment found within was still in working condition and all it needed was some compressed air. The mine is suppose to be 2400' deep and we made it down to the 1100' level, but didn't have any safety gear to continue, maybe next time.

Wowzer! That's some mine! Congrats on having the opportunity to visit such a great mine site. I certainly understand the desire to keep the location "under wraps" out of fear of vandalism or closure. We'll enjoy it vicariously through your photos. Thank you for sharing them.

That is a sweet mine. I am indeed jealous. I wonder what exactly "public" that you mentioned means. How does one enter (or petition) the secret "mojave grotto" for the location of this gem?
If I sound jealous, well, I am. That is a sweet mine, and secret or not, thanks for sharing those pics!Troy E.Comment

Well there is a hazing ritual, numerous fees, something about a covenant signed in blood....Oh, wait, I was reading-up on BLM Special Recreation Permits...my bad...
I am sure someday we will see more of this mine.Miah

It's not so much that we want to keep it secret from everybody, infact, I'd tell the world right where it was if we could, but the person who revealed it's very hidden location asked us to not share the location at all, and we respect the request. Vandals / closures aren't really a problem. I rarely see any vandalism in mines, and the state already has the locations, it's just a matter of time before it gets hit.Comment

Great Find!!! Did you guys go down the 1100 feet via the shaft or via inclines? Ya know with a little clean up that winch would run just fne on about 50 to75 pounds of air pressure (with force lube feed). Then you can take us all down in it!!Comment

We made it to that level via inclines and stopes. Most of which was in ladder. Unfortunately, the hoist pulls from the 1100 down; so sadly it wouldn't help us in getting in and outComment

This is seriously one Hell of a mine! I wish I could take everyone inside and shown them around, but unfortunately I have been literally sworn to secrecy for the time being. This mine is pretty difficult to navigate and took about ten pages worth of maps to find our way down to the 1100' level. It is also tucked away in a remote place so finding the mine itself can be quite difficult and nearly impossible without explicit directions from someone who has been there. Some day we will reveal it for all to enjoy.-Stuart Burgess
