Hey everyone...the other day on the way back from a graduation party my friend and I were driving along and out of nowhere I spotted a fairly large headframe poking up out of the woods by the road. We did a quick U-turn to go check it out and came across the site of the Plumber mine outside of a small town called Iron Belt. It appears that this shaft (by the looks of it it was not vertical but probably at about a 120 degree slant) was similar to the one in the War Eagle (being 2 tracks wide).
After a little more exploration around the site further into the woods we found what I have learned to be the hoist house...which explains the large number of large bolts that are still visible in the concrete structure. Anywho...I'll be going back in a few days with a couple friends to see if we can find anything else around the site.
