This weekend at a family Christmas party I went wandering through my grandfathers bookshelf and found this little gem.
Southern Idaho Ghost Towns, by Wyane Sparling
I was even more excited to find within the pages notations from Earl Parke, on several sites he had visited or worked and dates to go with.
After asking who this was, it turns out it was my Grandmothers brother, who worked and owned a few mines in the Idaho / Montana area. The book is in good shape but needs to be rebound. My plan is to scan and digitally archive each page and to get a recorded history from my Grandparents to learn some more about this man.
The inscription reads "Diamond Drilled here in 1947 Earl"
The inscription reads "Was here in 1934 Earl Parke"
I think a Idaho / Montana mine trip will need to be planned as well
