Little and big cottonwood canyon mines?

Hey so I was wondering if anyone knows of any cool mines up little or big cottonwood canyon that haven't been sealed shut by the idiots at the Utah abandoned mine reclamation program? are any of the mines up Cardiff fork still assessable?

The ones in BCC can have bad air so be careful. LCC has some good ones, just need to know where to look. Give me a PM and I'll fill u in.

Don't mean to be a dick or anything, but is it necessary to prove ourselves more than 1 post before certain details on certain mines are disclosed, even via PM?

      Maybe you know deemaz...

How far back in do the solitude tunnel and woodlawn mine go? are there any cool mineral specimens to be found in either?

I was actually at one of the BCC mines just last Friday. I will start a thread and post up pictures soon.

If I remember right the Solitude goes back about 2-300 feet until you hit a cave in. There is also a big room near the entrance.
The hike to it from Brighton to it isn’t bad.

And I think the Woodlawn went back maybe 600 feet before you hit caved timbers.
It has a few side tunnels and a winze that was heavily timbered.
Be prepared for a long steep hike to reach it.

When I explored them I wasn’t looking for minerals. Just hoping to find and film old mining equipment.

Solitude Tunnel is 100% closed as of last if I'm not mistaken. I was last in the Woodlawn ~5 years ago but I'm told it has since been reclaimed by the ski-resort staff.

Please read "The Lady In The Ore Bucket" if your interested in the mining history of BCC/LCC.
Although most of the mines have been reclaimed, it's still a great time to hike to any of the old mining sites in BCC/LCC.

                    Enjoy!

Thanks for the book recommendation. Sounds like a great read. And good point about the hikes.
