    Our day at Kennecott

Well our trip to Kennecott aka Bingham Copper mine was as cool as we thought it would be.
The visitor center over the open pit mine which is an incredable view.

Those giant two-story trucks just look like ants from the other side of the pit. Just one of their tires costs about
25 grand! and they each use 6. Talk about a lot of money just to operate this mine!

Inside the Visitors Center they had a lot of information about the early days of the mine. There was a diagram showing the early days of the mine
and the present day mine. It was quite a change. I also found out that the Kennecott mine in Alaska IS connect to this one. The Alaska one was first
and bought this mine in it's eary days. A smart act on thier part, this one is still open and still has lots more oppertunities.

If you haven't gone to Kennecott you really need to it is a trip you won't forget!

Excellent! I have been up there myself a few times with my family and its amazing how huge it is! We spent about an hour digging through that pile of dirt in the parking lot hoping to find some gold, but we never found anything cool in it. Sorry i couldn't make it and im glad you guys liked it as much as i did.

P.S. Crystal you look like Deb from Napoleon Dynamite in that picture

This place is pretty cool. I had the opportunity to go there with my geology class! I was one of like 2 or 3 who actually enjoyed the trip.
