That was pretty freaking awesome! I loved the ten minute ore cart ride - I'd love to get some footage of that. I had thought that the mines in that area (Frisco) were plagued by hydrogen sulfide gas - but apparently this one was free of that problem. Good work and thanks for sharing this with us!

Wow, that video was awesome. I would love to see more videos like this. Wouldn't be surprised if the King David is already capped. Wonder if the ladders are still in as good of condition.

Dan, thanks for sharing the video! I enjoyed watching it. Small world as my my next store neighbor just emailed me a link to your video too. He must have got it from someone here on Mojave or possibly you? Thanks again, would love to see any other videos you have!

King David actually isn't capped. Was just there a few months ago. However, word has it that the Landowner is trying to sell the property, but is running into insurance troubles on the land with there being open mines on it. I have heard through sources that he wants to level the site in an effort to sell the land. Hmm...

I am not sure if the site falls under the DOGM Star District II (likely not), but the DOGM is working on closing areas near here this upcoming spring.

Might have a link with the current owner, he is a relative of a friend. Might be able to get us on the site legally?

PS, gotta love Rush. Had to google to figure out the name of the song though

Try 'right click' ---> "Save As" or "Save Link As", it will then download and allow you to watch it.

                    Hey MU,

I’m glad everyone is enjoying the video, even with its flaws. I shared it with a friend at work who is a caver and mine explorer and it turns out one of his friends is a cousin of the owner. Their web site http://www.wuccompany.com/

He has keys to the gates and it sounds like he will be more than happy give access. Might be a good idea to have a waiver to releave the owner of responsibility if we go on onsite and underground. I’ll get more detailed info in the next few days about access and DOGM trying to close mines on their property.

Also, there is a shaft called the Lulu Mine about 1/8 mile south of the Horn Silver Mine that is only explorable with MU's portable hoist or a lot of work coming back up on a rope. I’m sure someone here knows the shaft I am referring to. I wonder what ‘s down there?
                    Thanks,
                    Danb

Would be a very fun trip indeed! I'd love to take another trip down there and see everything again. I'll have a chat with the MMT and see what everyone thinks. Thanks Dan for the information. I spoke with the head geologist of WUCC about two years ago. Real friendly and educated guy. A tour of the WUCC mill facilities would be really neat.

I would love to have legal access to explore the King David and the others in the area!!! Keep us posted!!! The ladders are still intact and stable as far as I can tell, I have just been waiting to find a way to get legal access. It would be good to go down there and properly document everything.

Small world, that cousin of the owner is my next door neighbor. Lynn is his name, he has been out on a couple Mojave trips with us. The mine owner (Lynn's cousin) lives in Draper but commutes to the mine on a regular basis. We are going to go sit down with him one of the next few nights and chat with him about a tour. I'll keep you all posted!

Edit: Dan, you must work with a Scott E? Thats Lynn's buddy. He was asking Lynn if he knew me. Funny how the small circle of mine enthusiasts can work
