    Gold Ace Mine, Beatty Nevada

    Hi all,

Although I am new to mine exploration, I've always enjoyed exploring and photographing mines. There are always interesting bits of buildings and equipment that lend themselves to photography. The following photos come from a mine known as the Gold Ace that lies just south of Beatty Nevada. The most interesting part of this mine complex is the remains of the ore processing mill that sprawls across acres of the desert landscape. Although vandals have done their damage, many of the concrete structures remain in place.

The ore processing mill is at:
    36°49'09.22" N
    116°43'03.98" W

    The ore hopper is at:
    36°50'02.33" N
    116°42'14.72" W

While looking at Google Earth I located a number of additional entrances further up the mountain at:
    36°50'05.91" N
    116°41'42.48" W
I'll have to drive up to see them next time I'm in the area.

Here's a few photos of the area.

The ore hopper is one of my favorites. It sits up on the hillside looking out over a huge desert valley. The sense of isolation is almost eerie.

There are a number of entrances into the mine complex. Some of them have collapsed while others are in reasonably good shape.

Great article on the Hold Ace Mine. Good photos too! I've not made it out to that part of Nevada yet, but I've added the mine to my ever growing list of places to see. Did you by change go into any of the mines? I'll bet you there are some great structures to be seen underground.

No, I've not had the opportunity to venture into any of the entrances. Needless to say, some I wouldn't even consider, but others look like they would be worth a peek inside. It's about 100 miles north of here so I may head back up that way once the temps cool down a bit.
