The fame and fate of the Lost Emma mine came up in conversation this last weekend at the Mojave BBQ. I happened across my photos of it today. I haven't been to the site in a couple of years (though we had breakfast at the Silver Fork lodge yesterday and it was all I could do to stay at my seat and not run down for a look). According to Tobin they have completely reclaimed the site, the mine, the buildings, etc... all gone.
This was a more modern mine, worked majorly into the 1970's and then sporadically worked until 1989 according to the claim markers at the site. By the time I first visited the site in ~2002 it was pretty well abandoned. The mine was wide open, many tools, pumps, pipes, etc lay strewn all over the mine and the buildings were in general disrepair but completely stable. I've got some mine workings maps that we later verified were nearly 1000% accurate to the actual on the ground working, meaning little was done since the map was published in the 70's and when I visited.
Anyways, a couple of pics, I'll try and find others too.
