    Creede panorama Virtual Tour

Not sure how to embed this, but the url works....
After the MHA Conference, Crystal, Stuart and Mike tipped us off to a site just up the road from Creede's Underground Mining Museum. Brannan and I explored the lower section of Creede's Bachelor Mine loop tour and shot 165 pictures of the area and stitched it into a virtual tour using Microsoft Photosynth...

Photosynth gives you a rough idea of the awesome scenery and scale of the canyon and its mines and structures...

    Check it out at:

Alas Mark, the dump truck was due to EPA $$ being used to reclaim part of the riverbed below and to the W of the scene. A 9K long tunnel was leaching minerals and impacting the town. A few years ago, there was a collect-on-the-dump-for-a-small-fee operation in the area which we did not find during our visit; the scenery is incredible and it truly is a must-be-there-to-really-appreciate-it sort of experience. The air is fresh and clean and time actually slows down a little up there. We all came away thinking Utah ought to take a page from Colorado's preservation efforts and interprete more of our own mining heritage...but the canyon walls and cliffs around Creede are uniquely theirs and quite amazing.

Very cool Russ! I will have to give you big points for representing such an awe inspiring place in a way that goes beyond a simple photograph and gives a sense of the magnitude of the canyon. I wish I could put everyone from MU on a big bus and let you all see how truly incredible the Creede area is.
