    The White Lady of Latuda

Fascinating story about an old mining ghost town, with a real legendary ghost! Latuda is located near Spring Canyon in Carbon County.

I believe this article is from the 2003 book called Down In The Darkness by explorer Troy Taylor.

I say we make a Mojave trip to this place! Sounds like great camping and exploring!

So my dad told me that the actual story that he is aware of, is that the ghost lady lost her husband from the Liberty Fuel coal mine he worked in, and was left with their baby to raise alone. She ended up drowning the baby in the towns wash to save it from starvation and was omitted to a mental institute. She broke out, and was found hanging from the balcony of the Latuda mining office the next morning. They also found that she had tried to dig up the babies grave but didn't know which one it was. He says if we did the research, we could find a local report from the paper about it. Interesting story...
