    Bad news about Bauer

I stopped by Bauer today on my way home from work to investigate the area since I haven't been there in years. I must say that I feel ashamed that I didn't notice this sooner given that I only live 15 minutes from Bauer. This may also be old news, but since it new news to me I'll report. First off all of the houses and wooden buildings except for two have been razed and the wood/debris has been left in big piles where the buildings once stood. It makes the area worse looking than the Tooele County dump that is nearby or even worse than the tagging that was all over the buildings. It literally looks like part of the dump now instead of a ghost town. Secondly the old drainage tunnel has been completely sealed off (sorry UnderUtah ) and there is a cement manhole where I remember the entrance being that pipes the water that is coming out of the tunnel down to a little catch pond. Man this royally pisses me off!! I hear Bauer is privately owned so my guess would be that the owner razed it for liability reasons.

OUCH! I know Bauer was / is a superfund site due to the tailings, but everything has been bulldozed? WOW... I haven't been for at least two years, so anything is possible. That was a pretty neat place to wander around despite the health hazards - a little village frozen in time. Even if vandalized, spraypainted, and paintballed, the structures still stood strong, blankly staring across the valley bearing silent witness to a not so distant past; now just a crumpled pile waiting to be burned or carted-off to the nearby landfill. Pretty disgusting...

And the portal to the drainage - I am sure the sealing was due to the polluted contents of its discharge. Sad. I don't have a single picture of that place. It stood down the hill in such obscurity for so long - a true ghost now.

    Thanks for the update.

Very sad indeed. I never ventured into Bauer's lands and I feel bad for neglecting to doing so. Another fighting point against DOGM.

Bulldozed or not, those tunnels still stand under the ground... If any rumors are true of the many wonderful things inside the tunnel, one might find courage enough to bring the tunnel back to life.

I have actually heard about Bauer being razed. The local airsofters and paintballers were the first ones to cry out against the atrocity. Now I'm not quite sure if razing the property was even legal due to its historical status. Oh well, its happening all over the state. We must stand strong against the tyranical winds of the adversary!

It's been closed off for a long while now. At least since I joined mojave. *pokes his signature that hasn't been changed since then*

Utah County Airsoft played their last game there just about a week before they dug out all the roads.

I've got a bunch of photos of our games there if you'd like to see them. We stayed on the surface for the most part though. Always wanted to poke down lower, but no one else wanted to go. :/

            Poor Bauer.

Do you know Brian Stewart from Utah County Airsoft? Goes by spyder from time to time.

Yes I do, he's not part of UCA anymore... sorta... He started his own team.

Yeah, he thought UCA was not hardcore enough for him. So he started his own team with higher fps limits and such. I think I have only talked to that guy once in like three years.
