Another mine I can't find any info about.

I live in Apple Valley,Ca. The local historical society put out a new history book. One page talks about a Gold mine near my house but I sure can't find it or any info on it. I know about where it should be but there is nothing on the topo map and I've driven the area with no luck.

More than 1 person spoke of it.

I can't find a tailing pile or any other hint of a mine in the area. Now what? Would an older Topo map show it? Any ideas?

Try looking for waste piles on google earth. Or you could also go to the USGS website and look for older topos. I could be more help, but I don't have any Topos for California unfortunately.

I’ve seen newer topo’s that don’t show mines that were shown on an older version.

I use USA PhotoMaps for topo’s. It’s USGS topos with some features I like.

Ya I've looked at the area with both online topo maps and satelite shots. The mounain/hill is brown and tailing piles are usually grey or white. Theres none on the face of it. There are a couple of ravines that are whitish and they could be hiding a tailing pile.

I did find an old rd and near it were some sort of Prospect holes but no actual mine. The book said it was a good paying mine so I don't think they were talking about prospect holes.

I have found a hand full of mines with no tailing to speak of. Maybe there is one around but they carted off all the stuff they took out. That dosnt help you much though
