    Interesting artifact

    Hi all,

We've all see the wooden pegs in mine ceilings that were used to hold electrical wires or air ducts. When I was at the Sultan a few months ago I was looking around in a junk pile and found one that was unused. I found it interesting that the tip of the peg is split and has a wedge that would contact the bottom of the hole and wedge the tip open so it couldn't pull out. Those guys were pretty innovative!

Ah! That is very cool, I never would have guessed that they did something like that. They hold really well though, for hundreds of years in some cases.

Good eye to see that! It sure is interesting and explains why those things are still stuck in the ceiling everywhere like you said.

Great job on your explorations too Joanne! Its awesome to see pictures of you getting into all the fun places now.

Thanks a lot, I do appreciate it. I've worked hard to improve my skills, but it also helps to have great exploring buddies who have been patient and encouraging. Of course I try to show my gratitude by cooking up some good grub for them. I got started into mine exploring a bit late in life but hopefully I can stay healthy and continue to explore.
