    Rainbow Mine

    Hi all,

It's been a while since I posted any pics, so I thought I would share a trip I had taken two weekends ago. I came across this mine and later found out it's patented. I didn't see any no trespassing signs, but nonetheless was very respectful of historic sites as always.

Nice pics! Looks like a cool mine and a neat area...is this in Utah?

That is the big question as to where this is located.

          Location: Tushar Range UT.

          Great Pics Dino.

The first pic is in the foothills west of Marysville, UT. It’s been a lot a years since I was there. At that time the entire building at the adit was standing. Cool machinery inside. Oil cans, spare parts, buckets of nuts and bolts etc. sitting on the shelves. It looked like they would be back the next day. The adit however was caved in.

Thanks Dan! You are correct, the pics are from the Tushar mountains. There are many old mine sites to explore and so little time. I only had a couple of days on the weekend but plan on going back to do more exploring around Alunite Ridge. The upper passes over to Upper Kimberly and the Annie Laurie were still closed due to snow but should be opened up later this month. Many of the adits that are easily accessible by road have been caved by USFS and DOGM but I'm friends with some locals that know where there are some openings that have not been closed. Of course some research will need to be done to avoid tresspassing or worse yet encountering heavy radon build ups from past uranium mining operations. I also have a local friend who has really been biten by the gold bug and has located some new panning areas he wants me to work with him. I guess I can't wait to wrap up in Wisconsin this month and get back to Southern Utah.

              Kimberley

Wen I saw the first photo I thought that it was Kimberley or there abouts. I am trying to get up there this summer. All so does anybody know anything about the Deer Trail Mine south of Marysville?

                Deer Trail

The Deer Trail mine is an active gold mine owned by Unico which recently signed an agreement with Royal Mines in AZ to supply 30 tons of concentrate a month. I'm not sure if they followed through with the agreement or if it's currently being worked. At today's gold prices you would think any mine that has reasonable showings would be in operation.

x2, Deer Trail is still active, Dino's links tell the story.

Dino, I'd love to join you guys for some panning, I've been getting out a bit. The Utah Gold Prospectors Association has a claim in the Marysvale area, I'm not 100% clear on where it is but I could consult with my claims book.

Nice pics Dino thanks for sharing. The area in and around Marysvale is a must see. Btw the GPAA has 3 new claims just east of Cove Fort and just off of I70 as well.

You been down on any of the properties yet? Any shiny stuff? The UGPC was down there 3-4 months ago, supposedly some decent finds.

I have not been down there Kurt in fact i just found out about it when my updated claim guide came in the mail a couple weeks ago. Says there are fines and flakes on the claims but they are looking for updates from prospectors. I am thinking of going down and checking it out when it gets a bit cooler.

                          Hi DanB,

Would you happen to have any more mercury?

                          Thanks
