    Mines in Central Nevada

I'm planning a trip to Nevada on Memorial Day. I haven't explored around Austin yet. Do you think that area is worthwhile?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

P.S. - I've been doing this for quite a few years and have a decent 4x4 -- no worries, I'm not a newbie!

    Thanks in advance!

I know that there are a ton of mines in the Austin area, but I don't know how accessible they are. Right in the town of Austin there are quite a few mines but I would hesitate to go exploring in those without permission. A lot of folks are still working mines in the area. Also, don't expect to find a grocery store in town. Bring your food with you. It's a neat little town though.

South and east of the highway 50 and 376 are some hot springs that are pretty neat. There are a couple of mines right in that area too.

    Have fun and be safe!
