Anyone know what this is/was? My guess would be a hoist structure and the shaft is covered

Great photos! You've definitely got a great eye for photography. I so appreciate everyone that documents our mining history, because like you said, it is fading fast from a variety of risks: Here in the NE corner of Oregon, we've lost so much in the last 25 years due to USFS "Roadless" scorched earth policy (which has recently subsided), and when an old mine-site is logged.

Ill bet they had lots of fun putting in the November M mine right on the edge of a cliff like that.. LOL
Is that square thing a mine shaft timber support? Can you get closer pictures of that next trip you make?

That structure in the last picture is indeed a hoist support. Looks as though it has the support on the top that holds the sheave wheel. Looks as though that hoist structure is underground. Did you notice any indication of a possible shaft being just below that structure?

There was a opening under the structure at the base of the rock and a shaft that runs up to the structure, looks to be something they used to load rock.

I do have some close ups of the wooden structure in the tunnel of the other mine. The gound under the structure seemed solid and there were tracks from others going across, however I do know that this mine has shafts that I was unable to locate durring my exploration so I am fairly confident that there is one underneath the structrue, odds are its just covered up with timbers and dirt/rocks.

This one shows the notches cut into the legs of the structure and also the rebar support that runs between the legs and is ancored into the wall of the tunnel
