    TR: Green Eyed Monster

7 of us (including TooeleCherokee, Bigrock man and others) got out to Green Eyed Monster on Saturday. Thanks Mike for getting permission!
This may be one of my favorite caves, very cool. Here's a few of the pics. Still gathering more.

This is really a fun cave. Who took these pictures, they are excellent! Did you guys wade through the water into the pool room?

Some of us hit the pool room. But no wading required. Scott mentioned there was a lot less water than when he went last time.

Awesome pics, thanks for sharing. Will be interesting to see how much the water level has changed around August.....

            Photos

My brother Shane and I took most of the photos. We spent quite a bit of time trying to get them to turn out just right, but it is always worth the effort.

Great work on the Pictures bigrockman! Most of us know all to well the amount of time and effort it takes to get great pictures underground, but I agree that it is well worth the effort. Speaking of Photos, we are having another photography workshop in the Ophir Hill on the 22nd of August, you and your brother should come: http://www.meetup.com/Mojave-Undergr...ndar/10762260/

Indeed great pics... it has been YEARS since I've been to that cave... I used to go to it quite often some 10-15 years ago when things (and people) were cool... but visitation got out of hand and people started trashing the cave and the surrounding area. Much of the cave (from the pics) I don't even recognize which means it's been radically changed by visitation or my memory isn't what it used to be. I HAD dozens of photos of the cave myself but haven't found them...
Anyway... it is a unique Utah treasure and one hopes that it will be preserved and possibly volunteer efforts can help do some restoration and cleaning work on it. A good pump pressure sprayer of distilled water over much of the formations would remove years of soot, and that black dust. This cave had a GEM (pardon the pun) of a formation that is now long since gone... the Medusa. I've only seen one photo of it and it was gorgeous.
                Too bad.
The room beyond the pool room has been decimated pretty badly. I recall being able to get up IN there and having to VERY carefully work my way through a literal maze of Helectites and soda straws... last time I entered nearly all of them were gone (destroyed) by those less careful and uncaring. SIGH.
